First stroke of genius by Hans Dieter Dechent, director of the legendary Martini Racing Team, the Porsche 917 known as "psychedelic", with its unique decoration, managed to hold second place at Le Mans in 1970 with Gérard Larrousse and Willy Kauhsen. In 1971, victory is at the rendezvous, for the 12 Hours of Sebring with Vic Elford and Gerard Larrousse and for Le Mans with Helmut Marko and Gijs van Lennep. In 1970, Dechent involves Gérard Larousse in an impressive number of races throughout Europe and the World: "Endurance, hill climbs, he made me run all around," says the French driver.
