Description
Presented at Frankfurt 1985 Show, the Porsche 959 also known as the "Super-Porsche" was the fastest serial car in the world with a top speed of 317 km / h and a 0 to 100km / h in 3.3 seconds. Hyper-sophisticated with 4WD, its new automatic suspensions, its magnesium wheels and electronic distribution of torque, the car is equipped with a small 2.8-liter 6-cylinder with 2 turbos developing 450 HP.
Until its production stops in 1988, 283 units of the first «Porsche Supercar" have been produced, originally developed to meet the FIA regulations of the Group B rally cars. Ten copies are made for competition.
The 959 is illustrated in the Rallye-Raid Paris-Dakar in 1985 and 1986, but also in sports-prototypes with the 961 who participated at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1986 (class win and seventh in the general classification ) and 1987.
