Porsche 911 Targa 50th Anniversary Edition
|
On 18 January 2022 Porsche celebrated 50 years of PORSCHE DESIGN by unveiling a special edition of the 911 Targa 4 GTS, designated the 911 Porsche Design 50th Anniversary Edition.
This version is limited to 750 units and pays tribute through details to the designs of Ferdinand Alexander (FA) Porsche, who founded the Porsche Design Studios with his brother Hans-Peter in 1972.
The 911 Porsche Design 50th Anniversary Edition is available in two colours: solid black as standard or as an option, Intense Black metallic. For the record, black was the colour of the first Porsche Design chronograph.
The brushed stainless steel of the Targa roll bar of yesteryear has been replaced by the contrast colour Platinum (satin finish).
The 911 Turbo S wheels (20/21 inch) are also painted in Platinum with coloured Porsche crest, and the "PORSCHE DESIGN" side logo is also in Platinum. The latter can be removed on request.

The brake calipers are painted in black (gloss), as is the standard Sport Design package.
A "50 Porsche Design with FA Porsche signature" plaque is attached to the rear bonnet slats.
The rear bonnet slat inserts are coloured Platinum.
A black painted "911" logo is included on the top of the rear bumper and can be removed on request.

Above, the model is equipped with the "Exclusive Illuminated Rear Bumper" option, which includes a tinted light strip, illuminated side gills and a coloured rear bonnet stop lamp.
Inside, the centre section of the seats is made of fabric and features a black and grey checkerboard pattern, while the side strips of the seats are made of leather with slate grey stitching.
The headrests bear the "50 Porsche Design" logo.

A "911 Edition 50 Years Porsche Design" plaque with a limited edition number is featured on the dashboard trim and the FA Porsche signature is embossed on the cover of the centre console's storage compartment.
The clock on the dashboard has a red second hand, again another nod to the first Porsche Design chronograph.
The car is sold with an optional chronograph dedicated to the 50th anniversary of Porsche Design, reminiscent of the legendary Chronograph I from 1972. In some countries, this option is inseparable from the purchase of the car.
As a reminder, the Chronograph I, designed by FA Porsche in 1972, was the first watch to feature a black case and dial, creating a world-first in watch design at the time.
In addition to the 911 Porsche Design 50th Anniversary Edition, to commemorate the 50th anniversary of PORSCHE DESIGN, the Porsche Classic department restored a 911 S 2.4 Targa from 1972, the year in which Porsche Design was founded by Ferdinand Alexander (FA) Porsche and his brother Hans-Peter.
This car is obviously a one-off and is reminiscent of FA Porsche's signature and creations, in particular the famous Chronograph I that he designed in 1972.
The color black is omnipresent, both inside and out.

The body is painted in solid black and the car is equipped with anodized Fuchs wheels. Side stripes with the "PORSCHE DESIGN" logo in satin platinum, identical to the 911 Design 50th Anniversary Edition, adorn the sides.
The Targa roll bar is also in Platinum with the "targa" monogram in matte black.
Just like the special edition car, the rear hood grille features a "50 Porsche Design with FA Porsche signature" insignia on its left side.
The inscriptions "PORSCHE" and "911S" on the rear hood are also painted in Black.

The upholstery is in black leather with the center strip of the seats in Sport-Tex fabric with a black and gray check pattern.
This fabric is also found on the door panels and the lower part of the dashboard.
A special "Porsche Design 50th Anniversary" plaque is attached to the glove compartment lid.
The headrests bear the "50 Porsche Design" logo, as does the 911 Porsche Design 50th Anniversary Edition.
The base of the 911 Porsche Design 50th Anniversary Edition model features the current Porsche Design logo, while the base of the 911 S 2.4 Targa model features the 1972 badge.
Both crests are found on the sides of the cardboard boxes of the miniatures with the embossed "50 PORSCHE DESIGN" emblem on the headrests.
