Abstract :
The Ferrari 512 D and its little sister the 512 M are among the most iconic racing Ferraris. Mario Andretti, John Surtees, Clay Regazzoni, Jacky Ickx, Ronnie Peterson or even Derek Bell raced with them in 1970 and 1971 against the all-powerful Porsche 917. Despite very similar performance, Ferraris suffered from a lack of reliability which caused them prevented from challenging the hegemony of the German manufacturer.
