The BMW Alpina C1 2.3 is based on the two-door BMW 323i E21, the first generation of the 3 Series, and was produced from 1980 to 1983 by Alpina as a highly exclusive sports grand tourer. It retains the 2.3-liter six-cylinder engine, tuned to produce 170 hp and 210 Nm of torque (compared to approximately 143 hp in a standard 323i), with specific modifications to the camshafts, fuel injection, and exhaust system, enabling a 0-100 km/h time of 7.9 seconds and a top speed of approximately 208 km/h.
In addition to the engine upgrades, Alpina also modified the chassis (suspension, brakes) and the interior, including Alpina wheels, front and rear spoilers, and a unique interior (steering wheel, instruments, trim). Produced in small numbers and sometimes also sold as an engine kit for 323i models, the C1 2.3 is now one of the most sought-after Alpina E21s, alongside the rarer B6 2.8.
