Real Model – BMW Isetta 1955
The BMW Isetta is the microcar produced by BMW from 1955 onwards, under license from the Italian manufacturer Iso, to offer an ultra-economical car in the post-war era. Approximately 2.3 meters long, with a single large front door that opens with the steering wheel, it is powered by a rear-mounted BMW motorcycle single-cylinder engine (247 cc, later 298 cc), delivering around ten horsepower depending on the version, sufficient for speeds of around 85–90 km/h.
This "bubble car" concept, with three or four wheels depending on the market, played a significant role in BMW's recovery, offering affordable mobility to an urban clientele before the arrival of more conventional sedans like the 700 and then the Neue Klasse. The Isetta has since become a symbol of post-war design and micromobility, a prominent feature in classic car collections and events.

This miniature model reproduces the 1955 BMW Isetta at 1/18 scale by Minichamps, made of die-cast metal with plastic parts, a detailed interior, and rubber tires. This model has opening parts and a high level of detail for its scale: the interior, minimalist dashboard, upholstery, wheels, and chassis trim are finely reproduced, giving it the feel of a premium piece, more of a display piece than a toy. This 1/18 Isetta is perfect for varying the sizes in a collection (it is one of the smallest 1/18) and telling the BMW story.
