Real Model – BMW Dixi 1928
The BMW Dixi was the first car produced by BMW after its 1928 acquisition of the Eisenach factory and the Dixi brand, which assembled the British Austin Seven under license. Renamed the BMW Dixi and later the BMW 3/15, this small, economical four-cylinder car with a 747–749 cc engine, producing approximately 15 to 18 hp, allowed BMW to enter the automotive market with a simple, affordable, and modern model for its time.
Produced in the late 1920s and early 1930s in various body styles (open tourer, sedan, roadster), the Dixi/3/15 was successful enough to provide BMW with a financial foundation during the years of economic crisis. It laid the foundations for the line of small BMWs, before the arrival of the 3/20 and then the more sophisticated models of the 1930s, and is still considered today as the "starting point" of BMW as an automobile manufacturer.

The Minichamps 1/18 scale BMW Dixi 1928 miniature adopts the silhouette of a small car from the 1920s, with a tall, compact body, a short hood, a nearly vertical windshield, and a tourer/saloon-type body with flat sides. The front and rear fenders are separated from the main body, arching over the wheels, with longitudinal running boards that visually connect the axles.
The front end is dominated by a vertical radiator topped with an emblem, flanked by two large round headlights mounted on a bar, all positioned above a simple bumper. The two-tone paint scheme (main body and fenders/running boards in a contrasting shade) highlights the angular lines of the body and the added elements. The wire or solid rim wheels, narrow tires, and the simple bench-seat interior, visible through the large windows, complete the look in a style faithful to the popular automobiles of the late 1920s.
