The n° 83 AF Corse Ferrari 499P, driven by Robert Kubica, Phil Hanson, and Yifei Ye, won the 2025 24 Hours of Le Mans after 387 laps, securing another historic Hypercar victory for Ferrari against extremely stiff competition. This 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 hybrid prototype distinguished itself through its consistency, exemplary tire and energy management, and meticulous strategy—keys to a success achieved after 24 hours of racing in front of a record crowd.
A Dream Life in Watercolor
From childhood, Uli Ehret (born in Weinheim, Germany in April 1965) has been passionate about cars and painting. At just 16, he began winning national art competitions, and at 21, he opened his own advertising agency.
In 1998, the discovery of watercolor as a medium for depicting racing cars allowed him to make his first breakthrough in art. For his exhibition at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2005, Ehret demonstrated that he had finally found the tool to express dynamism, movement, and vibration, and that he was now able to represent speed in his paintings. A subtle blend of realistic representation and impressionism. By its very nature, watercolor allows for a representation of movement that can be perceived even in the spray of dust on the road and the glow of brake discs. And the way Ehret utilizes the background adds even more speed to his works.
But his work doesn't stop at this impressionistic style; it also incorporates the story of a specific race, a driver's life, a competition's high point, or a historical moment in motorsport. Uli Ehret reads extensively about motorsport, both current and historical. His library contains several hundred books on all kinds of cars, drivers, and eras. Thus, a painting doesn't just depict a fast car, but also tells a story about the person behind the wheel or a particular day of racing, full of historical detail.
