The Ford Mustang No. 184 has had two drivers in 1966: Henri Greder, double French rally champion, for the Monte-Carlo - which he finished 11th, but also and above all Jean-Louis Trintignant for the filming of the film "A man and a woman" - one of the greatest successes of French cinema.

Due to lack of time and financial means, the film was shot in the style of a report, in just a few weeks. The director Claude Lelouch had managed to convince Henri Chemin, director of public relations and competition at Ford France, to take him aboard one of the two Mustangs entered in the Monte Carlo 1966. Strapped inside the trunk of the no. 145, he had plenty of time to film its driver Jean-Louis Trintignant in real conditions and to multiply the shots of the race itself, and in particular the No. 184 Ford Mustang in full action.

Indeed, if the film depicts above all the love story between a young woman - played by Anouk Aimée, who mourns the loss of her stuntman husband, and a rally driver also a widower played by Jean-Louis Trintignant, many shots are marked by the magnetic presence of the Ford Mustang. And in particular the most famous scene of the film, which shows the reunion on the beach of Deauville between the pilot of Mustang No. 184, freshly driven from Monaco by road, and his newly revealed love, to the musical background of “ chabadabada-chabadabada”.

Awarded several times, the film marked the careers of its director and its actors, if not that of the pilots Henri Greder and Henri Chemin. It had the unexpected effect of highlighting the gentleman-driving career of Jean-Louis Trintignant, direct descendant of illustrious Bugatti drivers of the 1930s, and nephew of the famous Maurice Trintignant - winner of the Monaco Grand-Prix and the 24h of Le Mans for Ferrari in the 1950s. As for the Ford Mustang, its adventure at the Monte Carlo rally, inaugurated by Jacques Anquetil in 1965, continued in 1967 with another celebrity: Johnny Hallyday!
