Jo Schlesser drove the #18 Honda RA302 at the 1968 French Grand Prix at the Circuit des Essarts, an experimental single-seater with a magnesium chassis. The 200 litres of petrol on board and the magnesium alloy chassis fuelled a fire of rare intensity, which took the emergency services a long time to bring under control. Tragically, he lost his life in a terrible accident on the third lap.
