Launched in 1987 for the 1988 model year, the fourth-generation Honda Civic—identified by the ED, EE, and EF chassis codes—marked a significant evolution for the Japanese compact car. Honda gave it a lower, more aerodynamic body, a wheelbase extended to 2.50 meters, and a double-wishbone front suspension paired with an independent rear suspension.
Available as a three-door hatchback, four-door sedan, and "Shuttle" wagon, it retained a transverse front-engine, front-wheel-drive layout. Its engine lineup ranged from 1.3 to 1.6-liter four-cylinder units, but the sporty versions drew particular attention: the Civic Si featured a 122 hp, 1.6-liter twin-cam engine, while the Japanese-market SiR—introduced in late 1989—was equipped with the 160 hp (at 7,600 rpm) B16A 1.6-liter DOHC VTEC engine.
Produced until 1991 (for the sedan and three-door models), the Civic EF laid the foundation for Honda’s global reputation in the realm of lightweight, reliable compact cars that are particularly popular among tuners.

Produced under official Honda license, it comes fully assembled and is made of die-cast metal.
