Real Model – Nissan R390 GT1 n° 33 – 24h Le Mans 1998
The Nissan R390 GT1 is a GT prototype built by Nismo and Tom Walkinshaw Racing for the 1997–1998 24 Hours of Le Mans. It features a carbon monocoque chassis and a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V8 engine derived from the VRH35 unit found in the Nissan R89C. In 1998, the car underwent significant modification—including a lengthened rear section to generate more downforce—resulting in the definitive R390 GT1 version, four of which were entered in the race.
At the 1998 24 Hours of Le Mans, all four R390 GT1s (Nos. 30, 31, 32, and 33) crossed the finish line, placing 3rd, 5th, 6th, and 10th overall, behind the Porsche 911 GT1s and the Mercedes-Benz CLK-LM. The No. 33 "JOMO" car—fielded as a "junior team" with drivers Motoyama, Kageyama, and Kurosawa—finished 10th but remains memorable for its green-and-silver livery, which featured Japanese messages of support from readers of a sponsoring magazine.
Miniature – Nissan R390 GT1 n° 33 10th 24h Le Mans 1998 1/18 GT Spirit (GT1003)
The 1:18 scale GT Spirit model of the Nissan R390 GT1 No. 33 captures the car's distinctive low, sleek GT1 profile: a sloping nose, a central bubble-style cockpit, an elongated rear deck topped by a large spoiler, and wide rear diffusers. The green-and-silver livery, complete with Japanese markings on the rear bodywork and fenders, is faithfully reproduced, clearly distinguishing the No. 33 car from the other R390s finished in dark blue or red-and-black. The signature GT Spirit resin bodywork highlights the car's precise proportions, featuring racing wheels, slick tires, faired-in headlights, air intakes, and finely rendered body details. The glazing, Nissan Motorsport logos, and number 33 markings complete a highly expressive static model of this iconic Japanese GT1 car from the 1998 Le Mans race.
