At the 1969 Monte Carlo Rally, the No. 28 Porsche 911S was entrusted to Vic Elford and David Stone, a duo already closely associated with the 911's rally history after their successes in the late 1960s. Despite their reputation as 911 specialists on both road and snow, the crew had to retire before the finish. However, this participation remains a significant episode in Porsche's Monte Carlo entries, alongside, notably, the victory of the No. 37 911S driven by Waldegård that same year.
