Real Model – Porsche 911 Carrera RSR 3.0 n° 52 – 24h Le Mans 1975

The Porsche 911 Carrera RSR 3.0 was developed for the 1974 season to succeed the RSR 2.8 and represent Porsche in Group 4 racing. It featured an air-cooled, naturally aspirated flat-six engine enlarged to 2,994 cc, with power output ranging from approximately 315 to 330 hp at 8,000 rpm. Combined with a five-speed manual gearbox, rear-wheel drive, wide center-lock wheels, and a specialized aerodynamic package, it stood as one of the most effective racing 911s of its era.

Produced in limited numbers—52 RSR 3.0 units in total according to RM Sotheby’s, with only ten built for the 1975 model year—it enabled numerous privateer teams to compete in endurance racing and GT championships.

At the 1975 Le Mans race, the Carrera RSR 3.0s demonstrated their competitiveness—particularly against more powerful prototypes—thanks to their reliability, light weight, and remarkable handling on the long, fast sections of the Circuit de la Sarthe.
