Unveiled in the early 1970s, the Porsche 916 is one of the rarest and most exclusive models in the Stuttgart-based manufacturer’s history, with just eleven pre-production examples built before the project was cancelled. Based on the 914 body but featuring a fixed welded steel roof, widened 911 S wings and the 911 S’s ferocious 2.4-litre flat-six engine, chassis no. 17 embodies the quintessence of the small mid-engined monster.
