Futuristic 1970 Porsche 917 rediscovered after 50 years
Appeared in 1968, the Porsche 917 is considered the best racing car of all time. Beautiful and dominating on the track, she belongs to the legend of motorsport.
Among the paramount criteria during its design was the development of a perfectly aerodynamic body, which will result in the short and long variants of the model. In 1970, Porsche engineers and designers were called upon to bring together the qualities of the different variants in a final body. To achieve this result, Porsche sends a team to the SERA wind tunnel in Paris, while a second team works in-house on a 1/4 scale studio model.
Of the two alternatives, it was the design of the SERA team, developed with the invaluable help of the great French specialist Charles Deutsch, which was finally chosen in 1971: it was the famous 917/20, known as "Pink Pig". The design developed in-house under the direction of Richard Söderberg is much more radical and futuristic, but will never be built. Its elegant and aggressive bodywork, without any wheel cut-outs, nevertheless made a strong enough impression for its development to be extended.
Improved aerodynamically and visually by several Porsche designers, element by element, the model gradually moves away from the Porsche stylistic references of the time. With its silver varnish and its fictitious starting number, the final version appears quite striking from the outside, but what about its very sci-fi interior housing a screen and a computer!
Exhibited in the premises of the Porsche Design studio, this astonishing and innovative design has remained for years the perfect illustration of futuristic design.

Ligne superbe et belle finition, même si on n\'est pas dans du Make Up Vision. Excellent rapport qualité/prix. Reste maintenant plus qu\'à trouver la Pink Pig Spark ou Minichamps pour l\'accompagner et à un prix raisonnable :-(.
