It was Ernst Fuhrmann (1918-1995), an engineer passionate about complicated engines and who joined the Porsche team in Gmünd in 1947, that Ferry Porsche entrusted the task of modifying the boxer of the 356 to allow him to pass without Risks the speed of 6,500 turns, while retaining the same bulk.
