The Delage D6-3L which finished second in the 1949 24 Hours of Le Mans was considered lost until Peter Viner discovered it in 1965. Viner suspected that his distinctive looking Delage was the D6 chassis driven by Henri Louveau during from the winning seasons of 1946 and 1947 and long since lost. His speculations have been confirmed by several authorities, including François Jolly. The car was purchased in 1947 by Henri Louveau, who drove it to victory on several occasions, and to second place in the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the Grand Prix de Spa-Francorchamps in 1949. In 1953, Jacques Nollé re-bodied the car into a coupé, and it was eventually sold to Richard Gallagher, an American soldier stationed in France. Gallagher then sold the car to Peter Viner, who took it to the United States. In 1995 Peter Mullin purchased the car and had it restored to its original 1947 racing configuration by Auto Classique Touraine in Tours, France in 2002. The car now belongs to the Mullin Automotive Museum.
