The classic Porsche 911 rolled off the assembly line in Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen in four air-cooled model series. The book entitled "Luftgekühlt 3" concerns the third generation, which was produced in the model years 1989 to 1994. With the 964, Porsche would go on to make automotive history. The 911 Carrera 4 was launched in the autumn of 1988, just in time for the 25th Anniversary of the first unveiling of the 911. After the 16-year-plus production run of the G-Model, 85 percent of the 964 was completely new. The Carrera 4 took the concept of the rear-mounted, air-cooled boxer engine, which had previously been pronounced dead, and catapulted it into the present with state-of-the-art technology.
