Unveiled in October 2021, the R232-generation Mercedes-AMG SL 63 4MATIC+ marks a turning point in the history of the Mercedes grand roadster: developed entirely by AMG, it ditches the previous generation's retractable hardtop in favor of a lighter fabric soft-top, while returning to a 2+2 seating configuration. It is powered by the AMG M177 3,982 cc twin-turbo V8—mounted longitudinally at the front—producing 585 hp between 5,500 and 6,500 rpm, with 800 Nm of torque available from 2,500 to 5,000 rpm.
Power is sent to all four wheels via the variable AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel-drive system and the nine-speed AMG Speedshift MCT automatic transmission. Capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.6 seconds and reaching a top speed of 315 km/h (with the AMG Driver's Package), the SL 63 combines the comfort of a prestige roadster with supercar-level performance.
Measuring 4.705 meters in length, it also stands out for its rear-axle steering, active aerodynamics, and retractable rear spoiler.
