Real Model – Alpine A310 1600 VF 1974

Unveiled in 1971, the Alpine A310 succeeded the A110 with the aim of offering a berlinette that was more modern, more spacious, and better suited to long-distance travel. Like its predecessor, it featured a polyester body on a steel backbone chassis, a rear-mounted engine (positioned as an overhang behind the rear axle), and rear-wheel drive. However, its highly angular design—penned by Michel Beligond—marked a sharp contrast to the rounded lines of the A110: a long front overhang, a forward-positioned cabin, a truncated tail, and six headlights set behind a transparent panel were its defining visual characteristics.

The A310 1600 VF arrived in 1974, representing the electronic fuel-injected evolution of the original four-cylinder A310. Its 1,605 cc Renault Cléon-Alu A3L engine—mounted longitudinally behind the rear axle—was equipped with a Bosch D-Jetronic electronic fuel injection system. It produced 127 hp at 6,250 rpm and 147 Nm of torque at 5,000 rpm. Mated to a five-speed manual gearbox, the engine allowed this lightweight sports car (weighing 960 kg) to reach a top speed of approximately 210 km/h.

With only 699 units produced between 1974 and 1976, the A310 1600 VF is a rare model. It is distinguished notably by the repositioned air intakes on the front hood and the louvers covering the rear window. Featuring four disc brakes (ventilated at the front), double-wishbone front suspension, and a rear-engine layout, it retains a driving character that is demanding, lively, and highly distinctive.

This 1:18 scale Norev model depicts the 1974 Alpine A310 1600 VF finished in "Acropolis Orange" Model number 185402 reproduces one of the most desirable variants of the four-cylinder A310: the Bosch fuel-injected version, identifiable by bodywork details specific to the 1974 model year. The orange hue particularly highlights the berlinetta’s low, elongated profile, its subtly flared fenders, and its six-headlight front end.

Crafted from die-cast metal with plastic components, the model measures approximately 23 cm in length, 9.5 cm in width, and 6.3 cm in height. Norev has incorporated several functional features that allow collectors to appreciate the model's level of detail: the doors open, the rear hood lifts to reveal the engine, and the engine bay tray is also movable. The front wheels are steerable via the steering wheel.

The model comes with a display base featuring the car's name. It faithfully reproduces the key elements of the A310 1600 VF: Orange Acropolis bodywork, faired-in headlights, specific air intakes, period-correct wheels, and rear window louvers. It is aimed specifically at collectors of classic Alpines, 1970s French sports cars, and 1:18 scale Norev models.
