The BMW M3 E30 No. 10, driven by Bernard Béguin with Jean-Jacques Lenne as co-driver, won the 1987 Tour de Corse Rally, one of the most technical and demanding events in the World Rally Championship (WRC), nicknamed “the 10,000-turn rally” due to its winding and steep roads. This victory confirmed the rise of the M3 E30 on the international scene and showed that BMW could compete with the best Group A cars in the most difficult conditions.

Technically, this rally version of the M3 E30 had a 2.3L inline 4-cylinder engine developing around 200hp, with high revs and a very lively engine response, coupled with a 5-speed manual transmission and rear-wheel drive perfectly balanced for road holding. The reinforced chassis and rally-specific suspension, including adjustable shock absorbers, absorbed the unevenness of the Corsican roads while maintaining maximum grip in tight corners. The car weighed around 1,100 kg, which, combined with its power, offered a favorable power-to-weight ratio and remarkable agility on asphalt.

The iconic Rothmans livery, with its blue, red, and gold stripes on a white background, was not just an aesthetic choice: it symbolized BMW's commitment and tradition in motorsport, and became one of the most recognizable liveries in rallying history. This No. 10 E30 M3 remains a symbol of German engineering and the ability of production cars to be adapted for peak performance in competition.
