To celebrate the 20th anniversary of BMW Motorsport, BMW produced a special edition of the M5 E34 in late 1992 known as the "20 Jahre BMW Motorsport Edition," based on the European-spec M5 3.8. Only 20 official units were assembled, all finished in Mugello Red and powered by the S38B38 3.8-liter inline-six engine—delivering approximately 340 hp and 400 Nm of torque—mated to a 5-speed manual transmission and rear-wheel drive.
On the outside, the "20 Jahre" edition remains understated: it features M-Technic mirrors, the Nürburgring package, M System II wheels with black "throwing star" centers, contrasting Jet Black (668) side skirts, and Shadowline window trim. The interior, however, is highly distinctive: Recaro SR sport seats upholstered in ///M fabric with Anthracite Alcantara; a steering wheel, gear knob, and handbrake lever wrapped in suede-like material with red stitching; red "BMW Motorsport" seatbelts; carbon fiber trim on the dashboard and door panels; and a numbered plaque on the center console.

The 1:18 scale OttOmobile BMW M5 E34 "20 Jahre" model faithfully captures the E34 sedan's silhouette—long hood, taut roofline, and compact three-box rear—sitting perfectly on its M wheels. The Mugello Red (274) paint is applied evenly across the bodywork, contrasted by black-painted side skirts, Shadowline window trim, and black "throwing star" wheel centers, all true to the original "20 Jahre" edition. Specific exterior details—such as M-Technic mirrors, M bumpers, and ///M badges—are finely molded, featuring the static resin construction without opening parts typical of OttOmobile models. Through the windows, one can see an interior equipped with sports seats, carbon-fiber-style trim, and dark accents—evoking the Recaro/Alcantara configuration of the actual car—complemented by a reproduction of the edition plaque on the console that highlights the highly exclusive nature of this "20 Jahre BMW Motorsport" M5.
