The story – Clay Regazzoni
Iconic Swiss Formula 1 driver of the 1970s In 1970, Clay Regazzoni won five Grands Prix, four of them for Scuderia Ferrari, with whom he finished as runner-up in the 1974 World Championship. He also gave Williams their first victory in 1979 at the British Grand Prix. Clay Regazzoni is one of only three Swiss drivers, along with Jo Siffert and Emmanuel de Graffenried, to have won a Formula One race. His Formula One career ended in 1980 following a serious accident at the United States Grand Prix, which left him paraplegic.
