The first appearance of the copper Lotus is in the laboratory of Q, MI6's master craftsman, where it is being prepared for a ski mission as Bond picks up spy equipment. Later, the car is entrusted to the agent so that he can travel to the ski resort of Cortina d'Ampezzo, where he tracks down the assassin Émile Locque.
