The Mercedes-Benz W196 made history not only with the brand but also with Formula 1. It was available in two versions, one with a classic body with open wheels, the other with a wrap-around body designed for high-speed circuits. The latter has a top speed of up to 250km/h. It was with this model that Juan Manuel Fangio helped write the history of this silver car in 1954 and 1955, winning the Formula 1 World Championship title. The Mercedes-Benz W196 took part in 12 Grands Prix, winning 8 pole positions and 9 victories, 8 of which were won by Juan Manuel Fangio.
