Unveiled as a concept at the 1988 British Motor Show and subsequently produced by JaguarSport between 1992 and 1994, the Jaguar XJ220 stands as one of the most iconic British supercars of the 1990s. The production model differed from the V12-powered, all-wheel-drive prototype; it ultimately featured a mid-mounted, twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 engine—derived from the TWR Metro 6R4 race engine—mated to a five-speed manual transmission and rear-wheel drive.
With 542 hp and 645 Nm of torque, an aluminum honeycomb monocoque structure, and a weight of approximately 1,470 kg, the XJ220 could accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in under four seconds and reached a top speed of nearly 343 km/h in independent tests, making it the fastest production car in the world at the time.
Built in Bloxham, near Oxford—with 281 units produced according to the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust—it was offered in colors such as Spa Silver, Le Mans Blue, Silverstone Green, Monza Red, and Daytona Black.
