Real Model – Porsche 956 LH n° 18 – 24h Le Mans 1983

The Porsche 956 is the Group C prototype that Porsche entered in the early 1980s in the World Sportscar Championship, notably winning the 24 Hours of Le Mans four times between 1982 and 1985. In 1983, Porsche completely dominated the Le Mans race, monopolizing the top eight positions. Victory went to the official #3 956 driven by Vern Schuppan, Al Holbert, and Hurley Haywood, while several customer chassis completed this historic sweep.

The "LH" (Langheck, long tail) versions were optimized for low drag on the long straights of Le Mans, with a stretched rear body and specific aerodynamic work to combine top speed and stability. These 956 LHs, whether entered by the factory or private teams, embody Porsche's dominance in endurance racing during the early 1980s and remain absolute icons of Group C.

Miniature – Porsche 956 LH n° 18 24h Le Mans 1983 1/18 Solido (S1805507)

This 1/18 scale Solido miniature reproduces the Porsche 956 LH entered in the 1983 24 Hours of Le Mans, bearing the number 18 and driven by the Laessig/Plankenhorn/Wilson crew, with its distinctive livery. Made of die-cast metal, the model is static with some features such as steering the front wheels and opening doors, and highlights the 956 LH's typical long-tail silhouette: plunging nose, central cockpit, long sill, and elongated rear.

The livery faithfully reproduces the colors, numbers, and logos of the real car as it competed at Le Mans in 1983, placing this model within the Solido 956 LH series dedicated to the various cars entered that year. This 1/18 scale 956 LH #18 is an interesting addition to a display case devoted to Group C prototypes, Porsche endurance cars, or complete grids from the 1983 24 Hours of Le Mans.
