Real Model – Porsche 959 Sport 1987
The Porsche 959, with initial deliveries beginning in 1987, served as a technological showcase for the German manufacturer. Developed around a 2,849 cc twin-turbocharged flat-six engine, it combined an electronically controlled all-wheel-drive system with a body specifically engineered for aerodynamics. Its water-cooled cylinder heads and forced-induction setup exemplify the advanced solutions employed in this sports car, which traces its lineage to the 911.
The "Sport" version distinguishes itself from the "Confort" (Comfort) 959 through a focus on weight reduction: the removal of certain electrical features and the adjustable suspension system results in a weight saving of nearly 100 kg. It prioritizes driving engagement and performance over comfort, while retaining the 959’s signature silhouette—complete with widened rear fenders and an integrated rear spoiler.
Miniature – Porsche 959 Sport 1987 Grand Prix White 1/12 GT Spirit (GT1006)
This 1:12 scale model by GT Spirit replicates the 1987 Porsche 959 Sport in Grand Prix White (reference GT1006). The white finish highlights the model’s rounded contours, particularly the flared fenders and the seamless transition from the rear bodywork to the integrated spoiler.
Crafted from resin, this model features no opening parts—the doors and hoods remain fixed. The design prioritizes an accurate exterior representation and the fluid continuity of the body lines. Its 1:12 scale gives it a more commanding presence than a typical 1:18 scale reproduction.
