Baselworld 2017: Porsche Design presents an innovation with the Monobloc Actuator model. It demonstrates the role of motorsport engineering in the design of Porsche Design watches and gives the titanium that has been used in motorsport for over 50 years a completely new form. Instead of the usual pushers, the chronographs feature a unique and revolutionary rocker switch, fully integrated into the case.
The model for this innovative mechanism is the engine of the racing Porsche 911 RSR. Its development required three years of hard work by watchmakers at Porsche Design Timepieces in Switzerland, designers at Studio F. A. Porsche in Austria, and engineers at the Porsche Development Center in Weissach, Germany. Like the mechanics of the 911 RSR, this caliber offers absolute precision, reliability and continuous protection.
In line with the design philosophy of Professor Ferdinand Alexander Porsche, the Monobloc Actuator collection demonstrates that the design of a product is a logical consequence of its structure and interior function. A final nod to the Porsche 911 RSR, the series is limited to 251 units, 251 being the length of the car's wheelbase, calculated for optimum weight distribution.
