The Subaru Impreza WRX Type R STi Version V Limited is a limited-edition Japanese model of the first-generation Impreza, produced between late 1998 and early 1999. Based on the GC8 two-door coupe, it was developed by Subaru Tecnica International for homologation and rally image. It is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged EJ207 flat-four engine producing approximately 280 hp and 353 Nm of torque, paired with a 5-speed manual transmission and permanent all-wheel drive with a DCCD center differential, all housed in a lighter and more rigid performance-oriented chassis.
The Version V Limited is distinguished by its limited production run of 635 units, a Sonic Blue paint finish with 16-inch gold wheels, a more aggressive body kit, and rally-style equipment (STI seats, Momo steering wheel, DCCD, and short final drive ratio). Rare and highly sought after today, this Type R STI V Limited is considered a more accessible "narrow 22B," while remaining one of the most iconic Impreza GC8s.
