The Volvo 240 Turbo No. 1 is an icon of the 1980s European Touring Car Championship (ETCC), famous for shaking up the hierarchy with its unexpected power and robustness. Entered in the 1986 Brno Grand Prix, it confirmed Volvo's competitiveness against the giants of European touring car racing.
Beneath its understated, angular silhouette, typical of the 1980s, the 240 Turbo concealed a 2.1-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, producing around 340 horsepower, coupled to a 5-speed manual gearbox. Thanks to its explosive engine and rigid chassis, it offered formidable acceleration and remarkable stability on fast circuits like Brno.
The No. 1 livery, often associated with the RAS Sport team, symbolizes Volvo's golden age in motorsport. The stripped-down interior, typical of touring cars of the era, emphasized efficiency and driver control.
