On March 15, 2026, Andrea Kimi Antonelli scored his first victory in Formula 1 at the Chinese Grand Prix, driving the No. 12 Mercedes-AMG F1 W17. Starting from pole position, the 19-year-old Italian mastered the race over the 56 laps of the Shanghai circuit and won with more than five seconds ahead of his teammate George Russell, giving Mercedes a one-two finish. He thus becomes the youngest pole-sitter in the history of F1, the second youngest winner of a Grand Prix and the first Italian driver to win since Giancarlo Fisichella in 2006. This victory marks a major turning point in the rise of the young Italian driver within the Mercedes-AMG Petronas team.
