Launched in 2004, the 997 marked a celebrated return to round headlights and remains one of the best-selling generations for its perfect balance of modern tech and analog soul. Debuting in 2014, it reinvented the 1965 concept by bringing back the iconic silver roll bar, paired with a technically fascinating, fully automatic roof mechanism.

A dream life in watercolour -

Since childhood, Uli Ehret (born in Weinheim, Germany, in April 1965) has been passionate about cars and painting. At just 16 years of age, he began winning national art competitions and, at 21, he opened his own advertising agency.

In 1998, his discovery of watercolour as a medium for depicting racing cars enabled him to make his first breakthrough in the art world. For his exhibition at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2005, Ehret demonstrated that he had finally found the medium to express dynamism, movement and vibrations, and that he was now able to capture speed in his paintings. A subtle blend of realistic representation and impressionism. By its very nature, watercolour allows for a depiction of movement that can be perceived even in the dust clouds from the road and the incandescence of the brake discs. And the way Ehret uses the background adds even more speed to his works.

But his work is not limited to this impressionistic style; it is also enriched by the story of a specific race, a driver’s career, a competition’s climax, or a historic moment in motor racing. Uli Ehret reads extensively about motor racing, both contemporary and historical. His library contains several hundred books on all manner of cars, drivers and eras. Thus, a painting does not merely depict a fast car, but also tells a story about the man behind the wheel or a particular day of racing, rich in historical detail.
