Real Model – Ferrari 308 GTB4 LM n° 17 – 24h Le Mans 1975

The Ferrari 308 GT4/LM is a unique prototype derived from the road-going 308 GT4. It was developed by the factory for Luigi Chinetti and the North American Racing Team (NART) to promote the new Dino 308 GT4; the car was lightened by approximately 200 kg and equipped with a V8 engine tuned to produce around 300 hp. After competing in the 1974 24 Hours of Le Mans (car No. 18, retired due to clutch failure after 30 laps), NART returned in 1975 with four very different Ferraris, including this same 308 GT4/LM.

In 1975, the 308 GT4/LM (No. 17) was once again entered in the prototype class, driven by Giancarlo Gagliardi and Harley Cluxton. However, it failed to set a time fast enough to qualify (48th fastest in practice, outside the qualifying quota), sparking Chinetti's anger. With 80 minutes remaining before the start, NART withdrew its three other Ferraris in protest, effectively ending the racing career of this unique GT4/LM.

Miniature – Ferrari 308 GTB4 LM n° 17 24h Le Mans 1975 1/43 Tecnomodel (TM43-30B)

This 1:43 scale Tecnomodel Mythos Ferrari 308 GTB4 LM (1975 Le Mans) captures the highly angular silhouette of the 308 GT4 as modified for endurance racing: a low nose with a front spoiler, significantly widened fenders, a straight roofline, and a rear end featuring a large "whale tail" spoiler, air intakes, and distinctive cutouts. The 1975 NART livery (red with white and blue sections, race number 17, and NART/Shell/BP logos depending on the specific version) is faithfully reproduced; it differs from the 1974 scheme while maintaining the same spirit of a privately entered American Ferrari.

As with other Mythos models, this is a hand-assembled, sealed-body resin model featuring white metal and photo-etched parts for the wheels, grilles, fasteners, and fine details. The proportions and the refinement of its components—such as the headlights, air intakes, racing wheels, fuel filler details, and radiators—make it a highly sophisticated piece and a logical companion to the 1974 No. 18 version for telling the complete story of this unique "Dinotto" Ferrari LM.
