Real Model – Renault 5 Turbo n° 7 – Tour de Corse Rally 1982
At the 1982 Tour de Corse, Jean Ragnotti and Jean-Marc Andrié secured a major victory for Renault behind the wheel of the Group 4-entered Renault 5 Turbo No. 7. On the narrow, demanding roads of the "Island of Beauty," the French crew triumphed after a memorable duel against Jean-Claude Andruet’s Ferrari 308 GTB. With its mid-rear mounted 1.4-liter turbocharged engine delivering around 270 hp in factory configuration, the R5 Turbo combined formidable traction with agility perfectly suited to this terrain. This success would go on to inspire the name of the Renault 5 Turbo "Tour de Corse" road-going variant, which was homologated for Group B in January 1983 and offered to performance-minded customers.
