By evoking these "little-known stories", a spotlight in the form of an affectionate wink, rather than an exhaustive work, the author, without depriving himself of a subjective vision of his subject, or of the possibility of expressing his personal theses, wanted first of all to draw out of the shadows (or out of oblivion) some poorly known episodes of the saga attached to the "automobile" phenomenon. These stories, whose central figure is more the man than the machine, are written transversally to the history of the automobile and motorsport, in order to better meet it and tell it. It even happens that the "little known stories" cross paths with History, the one that is honored with a capital letter.

In all cases, as much as to bring out of the void some o! so endearing figures, or to reveal the hidden aspects of a recognized personality, it is a question of tracing the contours of a different way of approaching the "historical" subjects. To say that the time of the 750th test of the Cobra, of the 3261st "paper" on the Ferrari GTO, and of the 5075th evocation of the Bugatti 57 is not over, but that there are other paths to follow, other tracks to explore. A vision that is certainly less immediately rewarding (in every sense of the word!), but finally universal, of a field that is always magnificent, exciting and, what is more, inexhaustible.

This book is not primarily intended for the fanatics of the "bolt/washer" and absolute precision, and even less for the monk-copists who reinvent the "Time of the Motorists" (thank you, Pierre Dumont) in length of "blogs", "topics" and "tweets". But if you are one of those for whom Claveau is a charming singer of the 50s, "Bloody Mary" an intoxicating cocktail, "Chitty-Chitty-Bang-Bang" a children's movie and Dubonnet a once famous brand of aperitif, then, for sure, "Histoires peu connues de personnages peu ordinaires" is for you!
